Properly socialized cats are loveable pets.

It is usually not too difficult to litter-train cats. They instinctually want to bury their waste. Provide them with a nice clean place to do so. If you notice your cat is going to the bathroom in one particular place, move the litterbox there.

They do not smell if you keep their litterboxes clean.

Whether or not the cat bites, depends on the cat in question. In my life, I have only had one cat that actually bit people. It was my first one, when I was 5 years old. It is possible that He may have been taken from his litter too soon, and he surely wasn't socialized properly.

My cat has only bit me one time after I picked her up after she was vaccinated. Her vet said it was because she was sore.

edit: my cat was spayed at 8 months old and she is a doll. she has never had a litter, it is a myth that you must let your cat have one so that it will be sweet. There was no way I was letting my cat contribute to the overwhelming pet population and now that I know she has a genetic condition, it is even more important that I got her spayed before she reproduced. Kittens might have killed her and at the very least, she would have been at risk of passing on her genetic problems.

If u put a cat in its litter box and whipe its bum with a wet cottenball it will then forever know where to potty. It all depends on where the cat comes from. If u get a cat spayed to early it will not be to nice. I advise u to let your cat go thru one heat or let it have one litter and then it will be nicer. I did this and after my cats first litter it was an angel and amazingly loyal and lovey. it is also better to get it very young. If u change the litter they wont smell. some cats bite just like dogs it depends on the owner. i am 13 and i have had up to 7 cats and i have saved one kittens life. i know have four cats one mama and 3 babies with me now. you should get one cat about a year old unspayed and let it go thru one heat or have one litter.

in your case, i would get an adult from a shelter. they will help you find an already trained cat.

kittens are easily trained, but not recommended for someone who has never done it before.
if you get a kitten, get one at least 12 weeks old. one where you can meet mom at least 4 weeks before you take yours home. if mom was raised in as normal house with normal people and had access to a litter box, she will teach the kitten to use the litter box. all you have to do is watch mom and see if she leads the kittens to the food and litter box.

cats can not be trained. they will let you think you are training them, but they will train you.

cats are only loyal as long as you have food.

cats seldom run away, probably got it by a car.

cats never stink, unless sick. or you are too lazy to clean the litter box.

cats usually only bite if they can not use their claws. if you really up set her and restrain her, she will bite.
cats give a lot of warning before they attack. hissing, growling, punching (swipe with front paw with out the claws). leave her alone when she wants to be left alone, and you will not get bit.

my cat duder, who i have just lost. was the most loyal cat ever he would follow me from room to room try and get in the bath with me, he would wake me up everyday scratching at my bedroom door. he was very easy to littler train i think he had 2 'mistakes' but if u just keep showing them where it is they will want to go there they are very Clean. he was a indoor cat and maybe he did smell but i didn't smell it. no one ever said anything (and i did ask) as for bitten he did bite my brother in a playful way but he never did with me i was more for cuddles. oh and keep the food as far away from the litter as you can like other room if its possible. they wont mess near there food. i think you should get a cat my baby just died yesterday and he was only 3 but every day he made me happy and i can never thank him anuff for being in my life even tho it was only for a little while.

It was actually my friend, don't be mad! About 3 years ago, when she was 8 years old, she had a very beautiful orange labrador retriever. Very friendly dog. One day, then found it had died. Nothing to spooky, no paranormal things about a dead dog. Well, one night it very late, and my friend couldn't get to sleep, tossing and turning, no reason to it. Her dog had died about a week before, and when she turned over, she saw him run up to him. Not scared at all, my friend reached out her hand and stroked his head. She fell right asleep at that very moment. Kinda spooky, but very cool.

Our usually very happy, (even dopey) dog will get hysterical at nothing. He'll be in the attack stance, growling, barking, at nothing. But if you look at his face, you can see that he is actually focused on something, and he will move according to where it is.

I have a little story

My Nana passed and we brought alot of her things to our house.
after everything had been moved in my dog ( a german sheppard and she was my dog, slept on my floor etc) would occasionally refuse to go in there. One day she sat out side the door and whined and paced back and forth and sat but would not come in. My radio station changed not just faded where you tweak the dial and it comes back but it REALLY changed stations.....(she detested current music and it went to a 40's, big band melody)
Animals...they know, and the spirits do walk among us...but do we choose to pay attention.
I do

There is nothing odd about a dog howling.Even if it never did it before.Like people they change as they get older. The simplest conclusion is it missed it's owners.
I once had a cat that lived in a 1 br apartment with me.She spent the entire first 3 years of her life in the apartment.I took her to Maine with me for 2 weeks. We were in a cabin miles away from the nearest neighbor. On the first day she ran off into the woods. She howled and carried on in the woods for 10 days.I'd see and hear her and she'd take food I left but would disappear when she saw me.
One night she showed up at the door and meowed.I let her in and she pranced in like nothing happened.Never again having an adventure. She lived for another 11 years.Staying indoors at my apartment and later my house.
Animals are capable of all kinds of things including strange behavior like running away or howling for days at a time.I think they'd be insulted if we didn't give them credit for being individuals capable of surprising us.

I once had a very vivid dream about playing with a leopard cub. When I awoke the dog laying next to my bed was whimpering and acting like something had frightened him or made him uncomfortable. I wondered if he was somehow also aware of my dream.
