I have a male kitten 2 months of age. What? S has always been very tender and sweet, the goal of? Recent times ET likes to bite (I guess that joke, never bites hard ET) and peers to “catch” the hand so scratches. I do not like this behavior, Is there anything I can do to train differently? Any other tips to train good behavior? What? S an indoor cat. Thank you!

ok so cats and dogs hate it when you push down on there tounge with your finger so when the kitty has its mouth on you simply push down lighty on its tounge with you finger and it will let go quickly. This works because they dont like it so they will stop biting and it gets them to let go quickly. if this doesnt work simply spray it with a spray bottle on mist when it bites

thump him on the nose or make lowed noises. also if he bites your hand or fingers push back in his mouth (gentle) , this is uncomfortable and after awhile they begin to understand.

this is what i did why my rescues, and it worked for them.

as soon as they start biting, even love bites, i stop playing. i also firmly say “no” and shake my finger at their nose (not actually hurting them). i also push them off my lap and refuse to pay attention to them.

i do the same with scratching.

When he scratches at you or bites just push him away. Get a spray bottle and fill it with some water, when he tries to bite or scratch spray him with it.

My indoor only cat use to beg at the door all the time all night long until we filled up an empty 409 bottle with some water and sprayed her with it when she would beg. She learned not to beg at the door.

most cats understand a simple “no” ,snap, hiss,or flick so when they do bite point toward the ground and say “no” or “off” if that dont work snap with your other hand at them this freaks em out and makes them stop what they are doin and a slight “flick” on the nose hard enough to make them stop but not hurt them and if nothing else when they do bite make a quick “sssst” noise but never even as a last resort spray them with water unless instructed by a vet because it makes them afraid of any drip splash or faucet leak and they wont even take a bath in a puddle 2 in high cause it scares them

Like human babies, kittens go through a phase where they like to chew things. Straws make good chew toys and you can pick them up for free at Starbucks etc. Other than that, you can train your cat that hands are not play things. Never give your cat your hand or fingers in a playful way and if they grab your hand, pull away and say no and stop playtime. It is not necessary to spray a cat with water. Also, make sure he has a good, tall scratch post.
